Element Games was founded in 2014 by Courtney Liessen, a game industry veteran of over 20 years who aims to delight players with polished, visceral, and deep gameplay experiences.

History

Early history (2014)

Element Games was founded by longtime game industry veteran Courtney Liessen. She has held key roles on various multi-million selling franchises, including Age of Empires, Orcs Must Die, and Halo Wars. At Robot Entertainment, Liessen led the design of their first mobile title, the beloved tactical battler Hero Academy. At Playful Corp, she gained early experience in the burgeoning field of virtual reality while working on the core team developing Lucky’s Tale. In 2014, she founded Element Games based on a lifelong dream of bringing her distinctive vision to the game industry.

First game (2015-2018)

Element Games released their debut title Evil Robot Traffic Jam, a tower defense game built from the ground up for VR, in 2015. Over the next two years, it was released on a multitude of VR platforms in territories around the world, including as part of launch portfolios for Gear VR, Google Daydream, Oculus Go, and Pico Neo. It also spawned an HD version for PC-based VR headsets as well as a Special Edition with a new gameplay mode. Evil Robot Traffic Jam showcases gameplay and aesthetics designed for VR while emphasizing complete comfort for the player. It combines an approachable visual style with intuitive gameplay that allows anyone to pick it up and play, while including enough challenge and replayability for seasoned gamers. It currently has a 4.0+ star average player rating on the various VR store platforms.

Second Game (2020)

Element Games was excited to release Sky Cannoneer, a spiritual successor to the arcade classic Rampart. Modernized for today's audiences and dramatically expanded in scope and features, Sky Cannoneer brings Rampart's uniquely classic arcade-style gameplay into the 21st century, with a full single-player campaign supported by a variety of mission types and upgrades!

Third Game (2025)

Element Games was thrilled to announce Reality Break, a fast-paced Action RPG with a unique hook: the ability to rewrite the laws of spacetime itself! With loot collection, an opt-in Roguelite structure that enables a rich metagame full of build customization, and an evolving story that reacts to the rewrite powers, this is by far the most deeply ambitious game Courtney has worked on!

Third Game DLC (Q3 2026)

Element Games is happy to continue supporting Reality Break with the planned release of Reality Break Ship Types DLC, an expansion into new types of ships and gameplay style customizations! Explore the stronghold of the Ancients and grapple with traps and enemies triggered by the new Alert Level system!
